A targeted expansion and facility upgrade for Lakeland Behavioral Health, designed to increase pediatric psychiatric care capacity while modernizing patient and support areas.
Challenge:
Designing for pediatric behavioral health requires navigating strict state regulations, tight safety standards, and zero tolerance for error, all while working inside an active healthcare facility. The expansion needed to add specialized patient rooms and dedicated maintenance storage without disrupting ongoing operations or compromising the secure, calm environment required for patient healing.
Solution:
We carefully planned a phased layout that maximized every square foot, delivering four new specialized patient bedrooms and a much-needed maintenance storage zone. By focusing on anti-ligature details, secure fixtures, and clear room flow—and maintaining tight coordination throughout construction—the project passed its state inspection on the first pass with zero delays, allowing the facility to immediately begin serving children in need of care.
